With scenic views like no other; Samburu national Reserve is situated in the northern part of Kenya with the Ewaso Nyiro flowing partly through the park, bordering both Buffalo Springs and Shaba National Reserves.
Samburu National Reserve is 165km2 in size and is situated 350km from the city of Nairobi and 310km from the city of Nakuru; this park is easily accessible by both class A and B, fully tarmacked/ paved roads; the roads in the park are all weather roads.
There is a variety of animals and bird life seen in Samburu National Reserve. These wildlife and bird life are unique only to the northern plains including the Gerenuk (the giraffe gazelle) reticulated Giraffe, the Oryx, the greater and lesser Kuchu, and the very beautiful but rare gravy Zebra.
Other common animals also include four (4) of the big five i.e. Elephant, Lion, Leopard and the Buffalo. The fast running Cheetah and wild dogs are also found here along with other common Kenyan herbivores and scavengers.
Samburu National Reserve also teams with excellent birdlife; over 350 species of birds.
Samburu Sopa Lodge is situated in the middle of the park overlooking the scenic huge rock outcrops on one side and the flowing northern plains and the Ewaso Nyiro River measuring silently through the park; the panoramic view of the rugged scenery is certainly breathtaking.
With spacious public areas which includes the restaurant and reception which is accustomed with rich colours and art typical of the Samburu people.
30 rustic cottages with a private verandah. WC and shower unsuited with a single double and triple rooms provided for; the furniture and interior decor is made out of local materials. Board basis at Samburu Lodge is on both full and half board basis.
ELEPHANT BEDROOM CAMP
This small and exclusive camp by the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River is constructed and furnished in the rustic African style which offers the trappings and comforts of a luxury tented camp.
Huge herds of elephants normally pass near the camp and can be seen crossing and bathing in the river from the camp. Prides of lions and leopards are also regular visitors around the camp.
Offering an exclusive area where breakfast, lunch and candle lit diners are served under the open African sky or inside the superbly decorated dining area; truly, a home away from home.
Exquisite and comfortable 12 luxury tents with bathrooms ensuite and a large verandah each can accommodate 2 adults and a child.
Board basis is full board with breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea and coffee. Drinks are also available as a supplement.

This lodge naturally blends with the environment with the backdrops of mountains and statute like hills surrounded by shrubs and by lush green gardens. Samburu Lodge sits by the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River.
The lodge offers a dining room, a spacious lounge and two bars to ensure you homely stay.
